Page views
When you open a page, the site records which page, when, where you came from (like a search engine or a newsletter link), your device type, browser and country. Your IP address is used for a moment to tell visits apart and is never stored.
A cookie that recognizes your browser
The site sets one first-party cookie, rg_vid, a random ID that lets it recognize your browser when you come back. It lasts about 13 months and is never shared with anyone else or used for ads.
Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland see a notice about it with a button to opt out. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the cookie isn’t set at all. You can opt out any time with the button above.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is linked to the browser you subscribed from, so Ronan Gantzos can see which posts subscribers read. Links in each issue are personal to you: clicking one records the click and recognizes the browser you open it in. Emails don’t contain tracking pixels, so opening an email records nothing.
Unsubscribing (the link at the bottom of every issue) stops the emails and unlinks your browsers.
What it’s for
Knowing what people read, so the writing can get better. The data stays on this site’s own server and isn’t sold or shared. Page views are deleted after two years.
Getting your data removed
